How is FEAR affecting your ability to move forward?

beyond divorce fear Mar 03, 2012

By Karen McMahon

fear |fi(É™)r|
noun

  1. an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat
  2. (fear for) a feeling of anxiety concerning the outcome of something or the safety and well-being of someone
  3. the likelihood of something unwelcome happening

There are times when fear can be a good thing.  It alerts us to a danger and we can then have a heightened sense of awareness and protect ourselves.  Fear can also be a paralyzing force; this happens when it is based on assumed or imagined dangers that either don’t really exist or at least not to the extent that we imagine.

When going through a divorce or even after you have come out the other side and  are unsure of your future, the ‘what ifs’ looming in the shadows around every corner are enough to stop you in your tracks…and they often do.   We are going to spend the next month looking at

moving forward

  • What causes your fears?
  • How are your fears stopping you from moving forward?
  • How might your fears be creating a self-fulfilling prophecy?
  • What would the opposite of fear be to you?
  • What is the worst thing that could happen and how true is that?
  • If you were able to wash your fear away in one swift move, how would you be living your life differently right now?
  • What would that be like for you?

This month, in each of our group and cyber sessions, we are going to analyze, dissect and challenge our fears.  Just as March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb, so too are we going to tame the roaring fears that have you stuck and help you to reduce them to being worthy of consideration only as one possible outcome.

Sign up today and join us as we master our fears!
